Pain-free tennis anyone?



I have a tennis addiction.


Over the past eight years, I have been playing tennis pretty regularly and it has now turned into an addiction. To me, the social and physical aspects are unrivaled and the sport is easily accessible being that there are so many public and private courts available. I am 61 years old, and hope to continue with this sport for the next 20 years - maybe 30 (I have seen it!). 


I began playing tennis with a group of women who met on Sunday mornings. They were very patient with me -- and encouraged me to stick with it - and to work on a few basic skills. I listened to their advice, worked hard to improve - worked through physical aches and pains - and I am so glad that I did. Tennis has provided a social, physical and mental outlet that I didn’t know I needed. I’m addicted. 


Along with joys of tennis - I also got the aches and pains. For years, I addressed the physical challenges with OTC meds (Aleve), stretching, and rest. A couple of years ago, I was taking two Alleve a day, and thought I was doing great. But, pain and inflammation were still breaking through. 


I was sharing the woes of tennis with my cousin - and he said, “I don’t think it’s a good idea to take two Aleve a day for the rest of your life. That’s only masking the pain.” He asked me if I’d ever thought about CBD. I had never even heard of CBD. He suggested that I try it and gave me some CBD gummies to test. I was certainly hesitant at first, but I trusted my cousin. He assured me there was nothing illegal or harmful about the gummies and I was in search of a better solution to my tennis aches and pains. That night, I decided to try a gummy. After eating a gummy bear, I went to bed and quickly fell asleep. 


The next morning I got out of bed quicker than usual. Something was different, I easily walked down the stairs and into the kitchen to make breakfast. I couldn’t believe it, the gummy had worked once again. It took away the pain that had previously limited my mobility and play, and allowed me to focus on the game. Once the first set was finished (40 and over, Women’s Singles) in a 6-4 victory for me, my opponent congratulated me and complimented how well I was getting to balls. This match ultimately lasted for 4 hours, ending in a tie-breaker, and I’m happy to say, I won!
